British Airways, KLM, Qatar Airways, Alitalia and Lufthansa offer return tickets to China from £320 to
£600 for a return ticket.

Where to stay in China
Acommodation in Beijing and Shanghai (China's 2 main tourist centres) is both plentiful and of good quality.
Good, reasonably priced accommodation in Beijing includes the 4-star
Fortuneland International Hotel,
only 5 km from the Forbidden City, with rooms from £40 and the 3-star
Redwall Hotel,
which is less than 1 km from the
Forbidden City and has rooms from £30. In Shaghai, two good 3-star hotels are the Jin jiang Metropole Hotel and
the Manhattan Bund Business Hotel, both centrally located near the Bund (a famous Shanghai waterfront) and with rooms from £30 and £31.
For luxrury accommmodation there is also the Shangri-la China World Hotel in Beijing,
a 5-star treat with rooms from £137, or if you are in
Shanghai, Le Royal Meridien
is a superb choice, in the famous Bund, with rooms from £141.
Things to do and places to go in China
Tiananmen Square: huge open square surrounded by official building, popular meeting place for tourists and kite flyers.
Great Wall: iconic wall historically used to defend China from invaders. A popular part of the Great Wall is from Jinshanling to Simatai along which there are organised hikes.
Temple of Heaven: where the Ming and Qing emperors of China went to pray and offer sacrifices.
Sanlitun Bar Street: Popular area in Beijing for ex-pats to congregate, with good bars and shopping.
The Bund (Wai Tan): Old-fashioned waterfront area in Shanghai's port along the Huang Pu River.
Oriental Pearl Tower (Dongfang Mingzhu): Shanghai's most notable landmark, with excellent views of the city.
Nanjing Lu (Nanjing Road): the most well-known shopping street in China.
