Flights to Stockholm
Flights to Stockholm leave from most British airports, such as Newcastle, Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester. Airlines flying to the Swedish capital include Scandanavian Airlines. British Airways, Alitalia and KLM. Prices for a return flight to Stockholm starts around £105 from Heathrow Airport and £135 from Newcastle Airport.

You can also travel by ferry to Esbjerg in Denmark, then overland to Stockholm. Ferries leave Harwich for Denmark twice weekly, the journey to Gothenburg taking 19 hours and costs upwards from £230 per room cabin (1 or 2 passengers).




Where to stay in Stockholm
Stockholm has many top quality hotels. Although an expensive city, Sweden has some reasonably priced hotels, including the 3-star Best Western Kom Hotel, located in the centre of Stockholm with bar, sauna and gym. Rooms are available from £69. Another 3-star bargain hotel is the StayAt Stockholm Bromma, a modern 16-storey hotel in a quiet suburb 5km from Stockholm city centre with rooms from £59. For those looking for luxury hotels the Radisson SAS Royal Viking Hotel, next to Central Station, offers 5-star accommodation from £134 a night.

Budget travellers can find low cost accommodation at the City BackPackers Hostel, with beds available in dorms for £20 and £28 for beds in twin rooms. Another popular, centrally-located hostel is Langholmens Vandrarhem, with beds in dorms and twin rooms available at £19 and £23 respectively. Other popular hostels are Archipelago Hostel Old Town and Langholmens Vandrarhem.

Things to do and places to go in Stockholm
There is much to do in Sweden's capital. Tourists can visit the Royal Stables where the King keeps his horses and coaches. Other intersting places to visit include the Aquaria Water Museum and Toy Museum, not forgetting the 155m TV Tower.

Stockholm is home to a wide variety of clubs, music venues and pubs. Stureplan and Kungsgatan, one of the main entertainment districts has many excellent clubs and bars, recommended clubs including Trendy Club, Sturecompagniet, Spy Bar, Laroy, Sturkhoff and Koket. Good bars include the Blue Moon Bar, a superb venue for live music, and Pub Engelen in the Gamla Stan area of town.
