cost from £18. Examples include the Hostal Numancia, costing 22 Euros and Hostal Plaza Dort which costs 37 Euros a night.
Things to do and places to go in Madrid
Madrid is rich in historical sites. A site worth visiting is the Reales Palacio de El Pardo, a hunting lodge dating
back to the Middle Ages that was restored by Franco and used as his official residence. The current royal residence,
Historic royal palace, El Palacio Real, is a must-see site with history dating back to the Austrians and Arabs before them.
Madrid nightlife is excellent, with superb bars, dance clubs, flamenco and live music. Great bars include Cerveceria Alemana,
hiostorically frequented by Frank Sinatra, Ava Gardner and Ernest Hemingway, the regal Balmoral and La Venencia which is famous
for its sherry. Good nightclubs include Kapital and Pacha, both extrememly popular. Also, worth visiting is Palacio de Gaviria,
in a historic castle ballroom near Opera.
